Introduction

The key to understanding any technology is understanding the language of the technology – the jargon. This Fiber U MiniCourse gives you an overview of fiber jargon to introduce you to the language of fiber optics and help you understand what you will be hearing when communicating with fiber optic designers, contractors, installers, distributors and manufacturers. While we try to use the most common terminology, some particular applications for optical fiber and some manufacturers or users have their own specialized terms, and when possible, we will try to include those terms also.

Assignments
For this lesson plan you will be instructed to watch the videos, read the references and take a quiz (Test Your Knowledge) to complete the course.

Lesson Plans
Watch the videos, read the section in the FOA Guide and take the quiz. For this course, we recommend watching the videos first and then reading the FOA Guide page on Restoration. There is a short quiz you can use to check your comprehension. The Certificate of Completion test is based on those materials.
